I was born in Okhaldhunga, but my family moved to Kathmandu when I was only two. Growing up, I was a pampered and loud child at home, but the second I stepped foot in my school, I would transition into an introvert. I had trouble making friends and struggled to fit in, but I never let it get me down. For the longest time, I dreamed of becoming a pilot.

My life has been a pretty sweet ride so far, and I know I have been privileged to have had the opportunities that I've had. But it's also shown me how hard some others have it, and because of this, I've learned how to be a more empathetic person. I've always been interested in social issues and how I can make a difference, and that's what led me to Teach For Nepal (TFN).

I was called to attend one of the TFN info sessions after I registered for the Fellowship. I wasn't sure what to expect, but as soon as I sat in the room with a few other attendees from diverse backgrounds, I knew I was in the right place. Hearing their stories and learning about their "why TFN" really motivated me. I must admit that I was still unsure about joining TFN when I registered, but walking out of the info session, I had 100% certainty that I would be delighted to join the cause. My co-attendees' enthusiasm encouraged me to apply.

As a social science student, I believe that being a TFN Fellow will allow me to practice what I preach. I will be stepping into a community as a teacher, but I know that the learner in me is in for a grand treat. I'm excited to learn from my students and be a part of their journey. I also look forward to being a part of a movement that is advocating for systemic social change. TFN's mission to end education inequality in Nepal aligns perfectly with my personal values, and I can't wait to make a meaningful impact in the lives of my students and the community I'll be working in.
