Training

Teach for Nepal provides extensive training before and during the fellowship period to ensure that our Fellows are set to succeed in difficult circumstances and are able to put children in their classrooms on a transformative life path.

TRAINING INSTITUTE

The Fellowship begins with six weeks of intensive pre-service training. The Institute is the first stage towards becoming a successful leader in the classroom from day one. This residential training will focus on building reflective inquiry, emotional awareness, and self-confidence. Fellows begin to acquire the critical skills that they need to have to teach in the classrooms. Expert teacher-trainers and resource persons will guide the Fellows in developing the mindset and values needed to become a successful teacher. During this period Fellows will also have an opportunity to gain first hand experience of teaching through various practice teaching sessions. In addition, the Institute will have a component on community relations so that the Fellows are equipped to work with the school management team and community members in the region they are placed.
This six weeks is also an important opportunity to build lasting friendships with other Fellows who will be working together for the next two years.

PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

Given that Nepal's university education still lags behind in developing important soft skills required by the job market, Teach for Nepal Fellows will have a unique opportunity to go through personal and professional development training during the two years of Fellowship. Teach For Nepal Fellows come together every three months for Mini Learning Institute (MILI) for continuous professional development opportunity that will feature experts and leaders from various sectors.
