Shree Bhotenamlang Secondary School

Shree Bhotenamlang Secondary School, nestled in ward-7 of Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, embodies resilience and dedication despite its challenging accessibility. Established in 2017 B.S., our school, though merely 15 kilometers from Melamchi, requires a strenuous 2.5-hour journey due to steep uphill terrain and a rugged off-road path.

With a comprehensive curriculum spanning from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade 10, our school proudly educates a significant cohort of 677 students, making us the second-largest institution after Thangpal Valley Secondary School. However, the challenge lies in our teacher numbers—17 in total, with only 11 hailing from our community. Teacher turnover and transfers have posed difficulties, especially in lower grades where student numbers are higher. ECD teachers, in particular, oversee more than 100 students daily.

Our student body, predominantly from the Tamang community (over 90%), reflects limited ethnic diversity, primarily engaging in athletics, especially football and running, while conversing predominantly in Tamang. Despite the 2015 earthquake's impact, the HELP organization and other donors aided in reconstructing the school, yet repairs and improved sanitation, especially in the toilets, remain essential needs.

The community's occupation primarily hinges on foreign employment, with aspirations among our students to seek opportunities in the Middle East and India after completing Grade 10. However, recent scholarships in Kathmandu have kindled a growing interest in higher education, albeit amidst prevalent superstitions that persist despite advancements in education.
