Having an estimated annual budget of over Rs 85 lakhs, Rajeshwor Nidhi Higher Secondary School has currently been providing education to 1,335 students (52% boys and 48% girls). The school located in Ward no. 2 of Nagrain VDC in Dhanusha district was established under the initiation of Rajeshwor Nidhi in 2005 BS (1948 AD). It initially ran classes from Grade 1 to 5 and was upgraded as a lower secondary school after 10 years. In 1963 AD, the school started running secondary level classes and was upgraded as a higher secondary school only in 2007 AD. 8 villages fall under the catchment areas of the school. Maithili is used as the primary medium of instructions. Children are involved in the school’s Child club. SMC and PTA have not been established yet.

3 TFN Fellows have been teaching at the school since 2015 AD. A total of 36 teachers (28 male and 8 female) are teaching currently. The school’s SLC pass percentage in 2014 was 35% while the literacy rate in the area is 80%. Students walk up to 10 km to attend their classes. There is a hostel that can accommodate over 25 students. Speaking of the physical infrastructures, there is a library as well as a science lab for students to learn new things. However, the school doesn’t have a computer lab and Math lab hasn’t been built yet. Desks/benches are enough only for 70% students and not all classrooms have access to whiteboards. The concrete building of the school has 33 rooms out of which 20 are used for classroom purposes. As per the education facilities available in the neighborhood, there are 4 private schools. A police station has been built for security facilities and there is access to mobile phone services. 3 brick factories have been established in the area. Electricity is available from national grid. Hand pumps are used for drawing water and the same water is used for drinking purposes, too. The distance from Kathmandu to Nagrain is 400 km and it is accessible by bus, bike, jeep or rickshaw.
