Education: Bachelor's in Public Health, LA Grandee International College

While I was doing research in a community, together with my friend, I conducted a play that talked about ending early child marriage. The story revolved around how poverty, health issues and lack of opportunity rooted back to early child marriage. Later, I came to find that after seeing the play, one of the girls in the community refused getting married at an early age. Seeing her today studying in grade 9 makes me proud that at least I was involved in saving a girl’s life. Although she had been told about child marriage in classes, she was able to internalize its effects better after seeing our drama. I realized more about the importance of practical education after this incident. Everything had to do with the way education is provided to us. Before I did my Bachelor’s in Public Health, I went to a private school that was near my house. Teachers were our guardians at school. They used to visit our home at a regular basis to see how we have been doing and also to share our progress with our parents. So if I don’t give credit to my teachers that would be unfair as they have always been supportive and encouraging me. Having had role models like them eventually lead me to the decision to join Teach For Nepal movement. As a Fellow, I want to develop a relationship with various stakeholders, community members and experts, so that they can help me in building a community that promotes education. As I go forward with transforming education in Nepal, I would also want enable people to see opportunities in Nepal instead of going abroad.

Let's stay in touch.
