Six students of Shree Kundala Devi Secondary School unfortunately lost their lives in the April 2015 earthquake. The school saw major damages in its infrastructures, too. More than 6 classrooms are in dire conditions because of the earthquake and 2 computers have also been damaged. 6 TLCs have been built. It has got support for reconstructing the building by Nepalhilfe Beilngries and Tukki Sangh and Help Germany are also helping the school to resettle.

Located in the Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-13, the school started off in 2045 BS (1988 AD) with just one classroom; Grade 1. Only one Teacher named Dinesh Bahadur K.C. used to teach. It was upgraded as a secondary school only in 2011 AD under the chairmanship of Rohinikanta Khanal. The school has had to face a lot of difficulties regarding finances, infrastructural development and teachers’ shortage in the past. Now, about 336 students are studying in the school. A total of 16 teachers are working at the school currently. TFN Fellows started teaching there in 2014 AD. Current Fellows are Hom Bahadur Thapa, Sabina Shrestha and Raju Babu Nepal. School enrollment rate among children in the vicinity is 100% while literacy rate is 96%. The school is 87 km away from Kathmandu and is accessible by bus or private vehicles.

Most of the people in the neighborhood follow Hinduism and Christianity. Their livelihood sources are farming, animal husbandry, driving and foreign employment. Primary agricultural productions are wheat, paddy and maize. People have to travel 3.5 km to reach Thulosiruwari Health Post. Sangachowk Police Station is 9 km away from school.

A stream is located near the school and drinking water is drawn from there. Students get to play outdoors in the volleyball court. There is a library but there are limited books. There is a Science lab but it lacks proper space and materials. There is no computer lab or math lab for students. All the classrooms have access to whiteboard and there are enough desks/benches for all the students. There is a child club in the school. SMC and PTA are functioning well. There is no hostel facility. Estimated annual budget of school is 36 lakhs. 75% revenue is provided by the Government, 10% from community and 15 % from other organizations.
