Janakalyan Secondary School has been providing free education to the students since 2044 B.S. (1987 A.D). To reach the school, one can take a bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara, get off at Damauli and travel 24kms in local transport to Belchautara. Belchautara is believed to have been named after a temple that is under a Bel tree. The community consists of people from various ethnic groups living together in harmony - Gurungs and Magars being the common people living in this community. As the school is located near the Prithivi Highway, there are plenty of facilities available in the local area. There are good network services and internet connection.
The school has facilities like a school bus, science lab, and computer lab. The school has now incorporated the use of multimedia in the classroom for a better understanding of the subjects. Although the infrastructure of the school is good, a lack of extracurricular activities and sports equipment is seen. Tanahun is a very hot and humid place, so the students need constant hydration. The students have been bringing water from their homes but there is no place to refill the water bottles. A water filter system has become an immediate need for the students and the teachers of Janakalyan Secondary School.
