However, over time, challenges emerged, leading to a decline in student enrollment and concerns about educational quality and teacher competence. The Covid-19 pandemic further impacted the school, reducing its student body to approximately 50 and prompting a reevaluation of its educational offerings. Recently upgraded from a primary to a basic school with the generous support of Surya Nepal, Sheratar Community School is now undergoing a transformative journey toward becoming a model educational institution. To reach the school, one can take a bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara, get off at Damauli and travel 24kms in local transport to Belchautara. Belchautara is believed to have been named after a temple that is under a Bel tree. The community consists of people from various ethnic groups living together in harmony - Gurungs and Magars being the common people living in this community. Named after Queen Ratna Rajya Lakshmi Devi Shah, Shree Ratna secondary School was established around 2015 B.S. The school was established after the Queen visited Manpang and surrounding areas and saw the need for a school there, so children from surrounding areas can have access to education without having to travel from very distant places. The school is about 165 km from Kathmandu. The population in the community is about 150-200 people. The majority of people in the community are Gurung, making up about 50% of the population. 25% of the population are Magars and the rest of the 25% is a mix of other castes, mainly Janjati/ Dalit. Shree Saraswoti Namuna School lies in Khairenitar, Tanahun. The legend here is that due to the area’s geography, a resident named this place Khairenitar. It is the oldest school in the community. The school recently celebrated its 61st year of establishment day. The school has a total of 350 students enrolled in the current academic year. It takes about six hours to reach this school if we catch the local bus from Kathmandu. The most convenient way to reach the school is to take a bus to Pokhara and asked to be dropped in Khairenitar. The school lies near the highway of Pokhara - a 45 minute’s drive from Damauli and about an hour from Pokhara. A mixed community with bout 60% of the community is Brahmin, whereas the rest 40% includes Dalit and Janajatsi.
