The area is known as the land of a national hero Bhakti Thapa and the school itself is named after a national hero, Amar Singh Thapa.

One of the most prominent festivals of the community, Ekadasi, and its Mela is held in the school premises. Since the community is the rapid pace of urbanization, the infrastructures of the school are also well-equipped and managed properly. It has a big playground and a small assembly ground as well. There are 8 buildings including a hostel and a canteen. There is adequate physical infrastructure. The school boasts a computer lab, ICT and a science lab. However, the school does not have a buffer stock for sanitary napkins for female students.

Currently, the total number of students in the school is 433 but every year the number of students decreases because there is a practice of elopement in the community also, the students are motivated to study due to their bad habits. Other challenges that exists in and around schools are that the students are influenced by bad habits such as alcoholism, smoking cigarettes. Such problems are prevalent because they seem to be influenced by the community itself.
