Education: BA-BSW (Social Work and Rural Development),, National College of Development Studies

I was born in Kathmandu and I have done all my studies in this city. My early schooling was from a government school, Ratna Rajya Laxmi Devi Higher Secondary School. I was one of the brightest students in my school and did my 10+2 in science stream and Bachelor degree in Social Work and Rural Development. As an undergraduate, I have been involved in different local and international organizations as a trainee, working on diverse issues. One piece of research that I’ve assisted with was under Dr. Aashish Sinha, titled “Prevalence of Substance Use among Higher Secondary School Student in Kathmandu”. My real passion is quality education, and Teach For Nepal brings me closer to the goal of working in this sector.

I am an independent person. I decide things for myself in my way. I have faced lots of challenges and from this I have learned that struggle, hard work and dedication towards work are the key to success. My struggle and belief in myself bring me to this stage, and I think Teach for Nepal will become that platform where I can improve myself as well as others.

At first, I came to know about Teach for Nepal from my little sister. Then I visited the website and also learned more through an information session at Nepal School of Social Work. When I found out about TFN and its motive, I became so excited to apply. My aim is to work in the child sector. I have great interest to do research on the decreasing quality of education in government schools. I found TFN as a path to walk toward my goals and fulfill my dream of bringing change in this area. When I told my family that I was selected, my family gave me full support and also encouraged me to do well in my work.

I am very excited to work with children and to contribute to this movement to remove education inequality from our society. I am excited about the placement, and going to a new place where I will be asked to take on many new responsibilities and challenges.

I enjoy interacting with different kinds of people and helping them. Others tell me that I am friendly, and that I can motivate others I believe I can adjust in any environment – I think these qualities will help me during the Fellowship, and that they will be strengthened.

Let's stay in touch.
