I did my Bachelor’s in Business Administration which gave me exposure to a lot of theoretical knowledge on business and entrepreneurship. I even participated in Ncell App Camp, an app competition in which my group was selected as one of the Top 6 finalists out of 150 groups. I was the business developer of the group and we had pitched the idea of a Book Hub, an app for purchase, sale, exchange and donation of books. Similarly, I participated in Business Plan Competition organized by my college in which eight colleges had participated. Our group was awarded the third position. In the competition, we had worked on the database management system useful for colleges in keeping records.

My father has been in the banking sector for over 30 years. Even I was encouraged to work in a bank after finishing my Bachelor’s. However, I didn’t want to do a 9-5 job in the city. I didn’t want the monotonous life where all one needs to care about is completing the same kind of task every single day. I was interested in social entrepreneurship and wanted to go to a rural area where there is so much to be done. I wanted to work with hundreds of people who need love and love me in return.

I’ve always loved children. Even when I visit my relatives’ homes, I spend more time with my younger cousins than my elders. I enjoy playing outdoor games like football and volleyball with them. And I always feel sad when I see children being deprived of education opportunities. I have many relatives living in rural Bhojpur. Children there leave school before Grade 10, or cannot pass the board exam. Only some continue their studies after higher secondary level. One of my cousins left for Saudi Arabia at the age of 21 to work, and a sister got married off at a very young age.

When I heard of TFN Fellowship, I felt that it would be a platform for me to inspire someone’s son/ daughter, someone’s brother/sister to aim higher in life. Challenges and opportunities at the same time is what I saw in the fellowship. Growing up we had moved to new places because of my father’s transfer, thus exploring new place has always fascinated me. Creating a positive change in a completely new place among new faces is certainly a challenge, but I feel I fit in there.

Not only that, TFN Fellowship will also let me explore rural communities more, which I am confident will provide me with inspirations for the social enterprise I want to establish.

Let's stay in touch.
