I was born in a small village in Bara district. Despite financial constraints, my parents worked really hard and I had a good childhood. I got an opportunity to study in a good private school.
When I was in the ninth grade, I was positioned as the Secretary of English Club. It gave me a platform to develop my leadership skills as I had to collaborate and organize quizzes and essay writing competitions. I even participated in many inter-school quiz contests, which boosted my confidence. These exposures made me realize how important it is to be good not only in academics but also in extra-curricular activities. While being involved in the Junior Red Cross Circle as the Secretary and volunteering in Blood Donation Campaigns, First Aid trainings and Sanitation programs, I got to interact with many students from different schools. I always liked working with youth. After joining college, I led many engineering-related projects on solar energy and electricity metering system. I also joined a political group on campus and organized quizzes, and sports tournaments.
After I finished my engineering, like my friends, I was also tempted to go abroad either to study further or to work and live a comfortable life. I could also have joined an engineering firm in Kathmandu. But I really didn’t want to go for either of the options and when I heard of TFN, it instantly became my path forward. I felt that TFN is the place where I really belong to. As a travel lover and a teaching enthusiast who loves spending time with kids, I knew that the Fellowship would be the story that would make me proud my whole life.
I chose TFN mainly because I want kids in rural areas to get the exposures that I got in my school days. I want my students to be good in extra-curricular activities as well. During my fellowship, I want to be not just a subject teacher but an educator who can inspire students to be resilient. I chose TFN also because I’m passionate about teaching. I have experiences of teaching Maths in a school and I even worked as a Maths instructor for people taking CMAT classes at an institute.
After the Fellowship, I want to continue with my education. I have interests in Cognitive Science; a subject that has to do with Computer Science and learning methodologies. My involvement with my students and the community during the two-year journey will help me understand different learning methodologies and this I believe will be very helpful for my career.
