Education: Bachelor's of Food Technology, Padmashree International College, Nepal

My parents have always been a great inspiration for me. Their hardship, their struggles, and their sacrifices to support their family have always motivated me to give my best in everything I do. Growing up in an average income family, I have seen my parents work day and night to provide me and my brother with the best education so that one day we would be successful in life.

Education has always been a primary concern for my parents who taught me that if I need to succeed in life, I have to be educated. They sent me to private school even though it was financially difficult for them. And during my Bachelor’s in Food Technology in Padmashree International College, I started tutoring so that I could lend a hand on the financial burden that my parent was facing.

Today, our country is facing an uphill battle. As we move towards the future where education is necessary for achieving high mobility, our country is falling behind because of inequality of education between private and public schools. As a Fellow of Teach For Nepal, I want to motivate and make students understand the value of education in rural communities. I want to share my learnings in life and combine it with my education to provide an excellent education to bring social changes.

I don’t want to limit my teaching in a traditional way as a Fellow in a underprivileged community. I plan to make the class interactive and enjoyable. I plan to learn about each and every student’s problems inside and outside the classroom and tackle the problem accordingly to create a longing in a student to go to school to learn, rather than spend time working as a child laborer for less than minimum wage.

Outside the classroom, I want to use my education in food technology to create awareness program. With the help of the school, other teachers and students I plan to create awareness in the community about the uses of food, its nutrition values and how to utilize food efficiently to prevent food loss as well as health loss. After contributing two years of my time, sharing my knowledge, I plan to become an entrepreneur who can bring social change. We cannot survive without food and I want to use my education and knowledge in food to equip children and community members with food and nutrition education.

Let's stay in touch.
