Education: MSc. Microbiology, Tri Chandra Campus, Nepal

I was born and brought up in Kathmandu, where I had a great childhood. I completed my early schooling from an English medium school which was great. In many ways I’d say that I am a normal student, but I am proud that even with some difficulties I was able to be successful in the subjects I chose.

I first came across Teach For Nepal when I was job hunting, through merojob.com. I knew next to nothing about TFN initially, but when I was called for the first interview I went through the website to learn more about Teach For Nepal. This inspired me, and made me more interested in the organization. My desire to be a part of the movement grew stronger than ever. Once I was selected, and I’d attended the interaction programs TFN holds for accepted fellows, I felt blessed and very fortunate that I had been chosen for this job. I feel this is the decision that will write a new road map to my life. I am excited to face all the challenges before me as I believe they will make me a new, refined, person with a clear vision for my life.

I felt wonderful when I was selected, because it was what I truly wanted after my first interview. My family was very supportive. I want to develop myself and do meaningful work in whatever ways I can. I am excited to learn a new perspective on life from the children I will be teaching. As for the school, I think this is a golden opportunity to get to know about the education level of Nepal and to bring about positive change from my side.

This is the first time I am moving away from my family. The prospect of being all alone in a new place sometimes causes butterflies in my stomach. I am also nervous thinking about the new environment, and the responsibilities I will be bearing. It will be interesting to develop a strong relationship with my co-fellows.

I love nature and to see new places, learn about new culture and to listen to others, because I think that when you listen, you learn more. I enjoy writing about my experience in words, sharing my happiness with my friends and family.

When it comes to my future, I have not yet decided what exactly I want to do. But I would love to work for children and women’s empowerment.

Let's stay in touch.
