My parents are originally from Kathajor VDC of Ramechhap district, but I was born here in Kathmandu, where I grew up. Looking back at my 13 years of school I am really grateful to my teachers and friends. I hardly missed my classes and was good at my studies. However, I believe I still have a lot to accomplish. One thing I am proud of up to now is being able to follow my dreams to date.

It was from Facebook that I first heard about Teach For Nepal, through a friend of mine. I was curious to learn some more about it and to see if this is what I really wanted to do. After learning more about TFN and knowing its objective, I was really drawn to work for those brothers and sisters who I believe need a chance to overcome the injustice they are facing. I am really willing to work whole heartedly to fight the unfairness along with them.

Teach For Nepal has kept on surprising me. I initially thought this was a chance to work for social change. But now I am convinced I will be changing not only the students I’ll be entrusted with, but myself as well. I might turn into a completely different person after two years. Actually, I applied without letting many people know, but when I was accepted people around me had smile on their face and already started missing me, because they anticipated that I’d be gone for two years!

I joined knowing I am going to have the toughest, and possibly the best, two years of my life. One might have taken it back if there was something to lose but I see gain joining TFN. That is why I joined. I am mostly excited to meet my students and introduce myself to them and of course excited to create a memorable time with them.

As for my own long term goals, in 10 years I want to see myself working for the Nepal Government in the Foreign Affairs Ministry. It may sound ambitious, but I want to become a top level officer. I am confident that these two years will help me toward this goal.

Let's stay in touch.
