Education: Bachelor of Public Health, National Open College, Pokhara University
My journey into community service began in Sindhupalchowk, where I worked on a community diagnosis project and witnessed the impact Teach For Nepal Fellows had on education in underserved areas. Their dedication inspired me to contribute similarly, leading me to pursue the Teach For Nepal Fellowship.
Born and raised in Ghorahi, Dang, I completed my Bachelor’s in Public Health from National Open College after earning a distinction in science in high school. My work as a social mobilizer in Ghorahi and as an intern with Health Foundation Nepal provided me with valuable insights into community dynamics and the importance of grassroots initiatives. These experiences reinforced my commitment to public health and social work, but also made me realize the gaps in our education system—particularly in fostering critical skills like problem-solving and adaptability.
I saw the Teach For Nepal Fellowship as the perfect opportunity to bridge these gaps by working directly in classrooms. Through the Fellowship, I aim to contribute to the development of students in low-income communities while also developing my leadership skills and expanding my network.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of trust and collaboration. In my work on reproductive health projects, I faced cultural challenges and resource limitations, but building trust within the community helped us overcome these obstacles. I plan to apply these principles during the Fellowship to help students achieve their potential.
I am motivated by the belief that every child deserves equal opportunities. The Teach For Nepal Fellowship allows me to make a meaningful impact in students' lives while also growing personally and professionally. Though the journey may be challenging, I look forward to shaping students' futures and contributing to their success.
