I was born an elder son shy and introvert in a middle class family. Ever since my childhood, my mother has hard earned for my education. Seeing her working hard for my basic education, I never took schooling for granted, the result of which I used to secure first position in school in most of my exams. I studied in a public school till grade six and later moved to a private school which has helped me realize the existing gap between private and public schools. I was born in Tansen of Palpa, a city filled with history and charm. Growing up we moved to different places until we settled in Bhaktapur. I love music and reading books. I look up to my parents and especially my mother who has been an independent person and a role model for me. In my academic journey, getting admission at Shanker Dev Campus was a major challenge for me, as my family and friends were not positive about it. But I had made my mind to graduate from the same campus with good grades. I prepared myself,stayed away from the negative energies, gave my best and was able to get admitted there. My parents moved to Malekhu, Dhading for work when I was seven and I spent all of my childhood there until I was sixteen. I don’t remember wanting to become someone in particular as a child, but my parents had a dream to see me as a doctor. An incident that I will always remember about my school is when I was in grade 6; my social studies teacher made us memorise the whole chapter on social etiquette line by line, word by word. Students who were able to memorise got awarded while the others who failed, were beaten. I have seen that I felt there is a lot to be done in ways of teaching in a school in Nepal after that incident. My sense of urgency kept rising when I got involved with the university’s events. I was continually getting exposed to a new side of me while organising events. My schooling days passed with mixed experiences – fun and difficult at the same time. I used to go school without slippers and sometimes with muddy clothes but I used to love to go to my school in Siraha. After I had passed my high school, I started free tuition campaign for students to motivate and encourage them to focus on studies. The number of students increased rapidly but I was not able to continue due to family obligations and my career. During my final year of my graduation, I started my own business. That was the day when my father was proud of what I was able to achieve and that is the happiest moment for me. But I wanted to continue teaching students. Until grade 6, I was considered a poor student. I used to spend most of my time playing with my friends. Gradually, I was introduced to a teacher who gave me extra classes along with my brother. He was concerned about my studies. That changed my education trajectory. I passed my secondary level exams as the second boy in my class, which I regard as my first achievement of life. While I was doing my Bachelor’s, I used to teach students which helped me become independent financially. While teaching the young students, I could feel that my confidence level and ability to overcome challenges were improving. I gradually found that I was good with mentoring and guiding people. During my student life, I had a breakdown situation at grade 9. Studying in a government school that always scored the highest marks, I was constantly under pressure to perform better in exams. I was not so good at Mathematics, but one of my Mathematics teachers personally helped me with extra classes to motivate me in moving forward. His suggestions helped me score the highest in both Compulsory and Optional Mathematics. Although having scored a distinction at secondary level, due to my family circumstances, I was not able to continue my studies. With continuous support from my family and with a government scholarship, later, I graduated from one of the best colleges in Kathmandu making my family proud of myself. I am originally from Gorkha, but was brought up in Kathmandu. My village was a beautiful place with no electricity or roads. I remember having to walk for 12-13 hours to reach my home. However, Kathmandu’s experience turned out very different with electricity, schools, hospitals and everything I needed at the reach of my hand. I did my schooling from Siddhartha Vanasthali Institute and my Bachelor’s from College of Applied Business . I had well educated and experienced teachers. Because I had been exposed to good education, I turned out to be a person who is open-minded and knowledge. Everyone pushed me to do good at studies and helped me move forward. The narrow pitched roads, few vehicles passing from that road and a peaceful environment, are some of the memories I have of my childhood from Sitlabazar, Bardiya where I did my schooling. As a student, I used to love singing and also secured second position in a district level singing competition. But I was never an outstanding student. I was an average student who was talkative and with a keen interest in sports. My family was mostly criticized for having a girl. It was one harsh truth that I could do nothing about. Despite being interested in sports, I used to get scared of these competitions because I needed to score good marks in school. After completing my school, I wanted to do nursing.
