Education: Bachelor in Clinical Optometry, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University

I was born and raised in Chandragadi, Jhapa, in a close-knit community where everyone knew each other. My parents were hardworking farmers who, despite their limited formal education, made sure their children had better opportunities. I grew up with two older brothers, and as the youngest and only girl, I was cherished but also quite the troublemaker. Our family valued education, and my brothers have achieved remarkable things: one is a businessman, and the other works for the WHO with a Master's in Public Health. Their success stories inspire me daily, pushing me to aim high and make a difference in my own way.

From a young age, I aspired to lead an extraordinary and fulfilled life, even though I never had a fixed career goal. While others expected me to become a doctor due to my academic prowess, I knew my path was different. My journey through mental health challenges shaped me significantly, teaching me empathy and resilience. This personal growth fueled my desire to contribute meaningfully to society, and I found myself increasingly drawn to the field of education. I believe education is a powerful tool for change, and I wanted to be part of that transformative process.

My educational journey laid a strong foundation for this mission. I completed my basic and secondary schooling at Bidur English Boarding High School in Bhadrapur, where I was a bright and diligent student. After my +2 in science at COHED College in Birtamode, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Optometry at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University in Pune, India. Now, I aspire to pursue a Master's in Community Eye Health, with a vision to enhance eye health in rural Nepal. Ultimately, my long-term goal is to be part of an organization that makes a significant impact on people's lives, offering them the opportunities they need to overcome their challenges and achieve their dreams.

Joining Teach For Nepal was a decision born from my alignment with the organization's values and my longing to make a tangible impact. The positivity and passion I witnessed in every TFN member were infectious, and I knew I wanted to be part of this movement. As a Fellow, I look forward to meeting new people, hearing their stories, and working together to improve our education system. I see this as an opportunity to test my capabilities and grow both personally and professionally while contributing to the betterment of my country.

Let's stay in touch.
