I am always one with nature. Mother Earth rejuvenates me and allows me to bring forth my best self. Being surrounded by trees and greenery while listening to my favorite songs helps me relax. But, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. I was born in Kaski, Pokhara, after all. Surrounded by mountains that glowed golden from within, I grew up in a happy home with my two younger brothers. My parents run a business and although they’ve never received a formal education, they are literate and proud.
As a silent kid who kept to herself, I didn’t know the art of making friends. So, I used to spend a lot of time reading and books kept me company. As an introvert, I’d often look for guidance from my teachers. Instead, I was met with harsh punishment and was bullied by my teachers. That’s when I knew that when I grew up, I would be a helping hand to students in need. I would be that mentor that guides students through life in the best way I knew how.
The very notion that someone like me could change the fabric of what is faulty with our education system is what motivated me to apply for the fellowship. For me, there is no limit to how much I can learn or how much a person should learn. I have a BBS degree but I am also pursuing a CA course because I strive to be better. It is my dream to help afford the opportunity of ending education inequality for all in Nepal. This is my time and Teach for Nepal has opened a world of infinite possibilities for me.
