Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Biological Science , Asian University for Women (AUW), Bangladesh

My parents moved to Malekhu, Dhading for work when I was seven and I spent all of my childhood there until I was sixteen. I don’t remember wanting to become someone in particular as a child, but my parents had a dream to see me as a doctor.

An incident that I will always remember about my school is when I was in grade 6; my social studies teacher made us memorise the whole chapter on social etiquette line by line, word by word. Students who were able to memorise got awarded while the others who failed, were beaten. I have seen that I felt there is a lot to be done in ways of teaching in a school in Nepal after that incident.

My sense of urgency kept rising when I got involved with the university’s events. I was continually getting exposed to a new side of me while organising events. I applied for the Teach For Nepal Fellowship at first, only because I had heard about it time and again and I wanted to give it a try. After some of research and watching a video, I was left speechless and emotionally touched.

Continuously with every event I attended, every story I heard and every person I met at Teach For Nepal, helped me strengthen my decision of getting into TFN. Today, I want to be a TFN Fellow as I believe in the transformational change that it views as possible from a classroom. I want to give a helping hand to this movement where everyone is motivated and working relentlessly to reduce education inequity in our country.

Let's stay in touch.
