Education: Bachelor's of Business Studies, Caspin Valley College, Nepal
Born in a middle-class family on the outskirts of Patan, I graduated from Caspian Valley College with a degree in Business Studies. As a student, I was in love with the English language. I used to read books in English every time I got the opportunity. I fell in love with writing and conversing in English. My English teachers were my biggest motivators and all the credit goes to them for who I am today.
My brothers and sisters have always supported me in all walks of my life and I cannot thank my parents enough for all the support and love they have given me. As a student, I always dreamt of becoming a teacher who would use expressive stories and use literature to help students write stories and communicate effectively.
Throughout my Fellowship, I plan not only to be a teacher but also to be someone that inspires her pupils, to give their best. I knew about the power I had in me to inspire people when I presented to a mass in an assembly. I want to be a teacher who transforms the lives of children, their family, and community as well. My education and knowledge gained from the training in radio jockey, I believe, would help me become a transformative teacher.
I learned about Teach For Nepal through a friend. Through Teach For Nepal’s work, I learned about education injustices in Nepal and I applied for the Fellowship right away. After applying for Fellowship, I informed my parents but my father was not thrilled about me becoming a teacher. Like any parents, they aspired for their daughter to work in a corporate or banking sector. But I know that they will be very.happy later when they learn about my contribution in changing the course of Nepal by providing an excellent education to underprivileged children.
