Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Tri-chandra College, Tribhuvan University, Nepal

During my school life, I was a good student. I performed well in my studies and actively participated in extracurricular activities. In ninth grade, I participated in an inter-school essay writing competition. I was confident in my writing skills and was sure that I’d win. However, when the results were announced my classmate took home the prize, I on the other hand secured the fourth position. This incident was a lesson in humility for me.

After the tenth grade I came to Kathmandu for my higher education and joined a private college. I faced a lot of obstacles during the +2 years. WE had to wait log hours between classes and the syllabus was not completed on time. I didn’t get guidance, feedback or any kind of suggestions from my teachers. My scores suffered as a result. But my family counseled and motivated me. My brother tutored me, and I started getting better grades.

Previously, I had a fear of failing but this incident taught me to have patience and persevere in the face of adversity. It also showed me how important teachers were in the overall development of students. As a Teach For Nepal Fellow, I look forward to interacting with students and passing along my experience and knowledge. I want to encourage them to do their best so that these students from public schools can compete with the very best of private schools.

Let's stay in touch.
