Teach For Nepal initiates National Campaign to motivate rural community children.

Teach For Nepal continues its National campaign “One day in a classroom” with the belief that one day, one moment can change the life of children. In the campaign, more than a hundred guests from the different sector will be teaching a class in the schools where Teach For Nepal Fellows work as change agents. This year actors, journalists, diplomats, personalities from the government sector, business persons, social activists, politicians, members house of representatives and different leaders are participating in the campaign.

Amar Neupane, Madan Puraskar winner who is also teaching a class at Indreshwori Secondary School in Melamchi said, he is very influenced by TFN’s movement to end education inequality. The writer of Nepali Educational novel “Karodau Kasturi” said, “I feel like Teach For Nepal’s movement is my movement. This movement is trying to replace the traditional teaching methodology with the modern, which makes me excited.”

Along with him, musical band Nepathya’s lead vocalist Amrit Gurung, veteran journalist Ram Krishna Regmi, actress Malvika Subba, singer Pratap Das are also visiting different schools. Likewise, Member of House of Representative, Navaraj Silwal and former member of House of Representative, Uday Shamsher JBR is also visiting the schools of their own constituency. Education Secretary, Khagaraj Baral and CDO of Rasuwa are also representing the civil service sector.

Explaining the objective of the program, Teach For Nepal’s One Day in A Classroom’s program coordinator, Nawang Sherpa said, “The kids with whom we work can have access to many opportunities if we provide them with good exposure from leaders of various sectors.” He further added the program is initiated to show children a pathway to different career and professions.

“In the last three years, we’ve found children are hugely influenced by the guest’s and have seen changes in their behavior,” said Prajwal Khadka, Partnership Manager at Teach For Nepal. He further said, “The horizon of children’s knowledge has expanded through the program.”

Teach For Nepal’s CEO, Shisir Khanal expressed, “Education system should not only limit to the curriculum.” He further adds, “Teach For Nepal is committed to expanding the thinking of our children.”

The campaign starts from December 2nd, 2018, and will continue for two weeks in 51 public schools in Lalitpur, Sindhupalchowk, Dhanusa, Lamjung, Parsa and Dang.


बालबालिकालाई प्रेरणा दिन राष्ट्रिय अभियान

एक दिन एक क्षणको प्रेरणाले पनि बालबालिकाको जीवन परिवर्तन गर्न सक्छ भन्ने विश्वासका साथ टिच फर नेपालले आफ्नो वार्षिक कार्यक्रम अन्तर्गत ‘कक्षाकोठामा एक दिन’ अभियान सुरू गर्दै छ। यस अभियान अन्तर्गत  विभिन्न क्षेत्रका सय भन्दा बढी अतिथिहरूले टिच फर नेपाल कार्यरत विद्यालयहरूमा कक्षा लिने भएका छन्। यस अभियानमा कलाकार, पत्रकार, कुटनीक पदाधिकारी, नेपाल सरकारको विभिन्न ओहोदामा काम गरेका व्यक्तित्वहरू, उद्यमी, सामाजिक अभियन्ता, राजनीतिकर्मी, सांसद तथा विभिन्न संस्थाका संचालकहरू आदि सहभागी हुने भएका छन्।

यस अभियान अन्तर्गत मेलम्चीको ईन्द्रेश्वरी माध्यमिक विद्यालय जान लागेका मदन पुरस्कार बिजेता लेखक अमर न्यौपाने टिच फर नेपालको कामबाट आफू प्रभावित भएको बताउँछन्। ‘करोडौँ कस्तुरी’ जस्तो शैक्षिक उपन्यासका लेखक उनी भन्छन्, “टिच फर नेपाल अभियान मेरो आफ्नै जस्तो हो लाग्छ। यस अभियानले परम्परागत शिक्षाबाट माथि उठेर आधुनिक शैक्षिक प्रणालीको विकासमा लागेकोले उत्साहित भएको छु।”

न्यापानेसँगै नेपथ्य ब्यान्डका अमृत गुरुङ, वरिष्ठ पत्रकार रामकृष्ण रेग्मी, अभिनेतृ माल्भिका सुब्बा, गायक प्रताप दास आदि विभिन्न विद्यालयमा जाँदै छन्। त्यस्तै आफ्नै निर्वाचन क्षेत्रको सार्वजनिक विद्यालयमा सांसद नवराज सिलवाल तथा पुर्वसांसद उदयशमशेर राणा जाँदै छन्। शिक्षा सचिव खगराज बराल तथा रसुवाका प्रमुख जिल्ला अधिकारी पनि निजामती सेवाको प्रतिनिधित्व गर्दै छन्।

अभियानको उद्देश्य बताउँदै कार्यक्रम संयोजक नवाङ शेर्पा भन्छन्, “हाम्रा बालबालिकामा असीम सम्भावना छ। त्यसको लागि उनीहरूलाई प्रेरक शिक्षक र समाजको फराकिलो ज्ञान आवश्यक छ।” समाजका विभिन्न विषयहरू र पेशागत क्षेत्रहरूको जानकारी दिई उत्प्रेरित गर्न यो अभियान सन्चालन गरिएको संयोजक शेर्पा बताउँछन्।

“गत ३ वर्षको अनुभवमा धेरै विद्यार्थीहरू अतिथिहरूको कक्षाबाट प्रभावित भएका छन्। उनीहरूको सोच र व्यवहारमा परिवर्तन आएको छ”, चौथौँ  संस्करणको पुर्वसन्ध्यामा टिच फर नेपालका साझेदारी व्यवस्थापक प्रज्ज्वल खड्का बताउँछन। उनी थप्छन्, “सीमित सपना देख्ने विद्यार्थीहरूको सोच फराकिलो भएको छ।”

शिक्षा पाठ्यपुस्तकमा मात्रै सीमित रहनु हुँदैन भन्दै टिच फर नेपालका प्रमुख कार्यकारी अधिकृत शिशिर खनाल बताउँछन्, “हामी बालबालिकाको सोचको दायरा बढाउन संस्थागत रूपमै प्रतिबद्ध छौँ।”

यही मंसिर १६ मा सिन्धुपाल्चोकबाट सुरु हुने यस अभियान करिब २ हप्ता टिच फर नेपाल कार्यरत जिल्लामा सन्चालन हुनेछ।
